Disorders that may affect the small intestine include intestinal cancer, Crohn’s disease, obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, iron deficiency anemia, malabsorptive diseases such as celiac/sprue, irritable bowel syndrome and intestinal injury induced by use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
